Your so right Folky!
The first time a member of the public reported me and I received a nasty letter from the local police.
It unnerved me and I lost my confidence.
The second time it took me ages to get my confidence back.Again a member of the public reported me and I had a visit from the police. That finished me off ad I haven't driven a long way since.I have still got my licence but the car sits on the drive and is going back in August.I felt I was safe but I could not live with the anxiety.
I decided to relinquish my licence when I was ready and not have it wrenched from me.
I think the police were only doing their job but the affects on me at the time were devastating.
I was not ready then.
In the UK I think you have to legally inform the DVLA.For some it seems to take ages to get their licence back.
For me it was quicker but restricted for three years.
I used to drive a lot
I thought it would be the end of the world.
I know 2 people who drive now they have their licences back.
I drove very short distances for two years.
I can no longer manage so now I dont drive now.
I have survived.
