I am Unfortunately a South African, we must have the worst Disability and Medical care in the world and can unfortunately not afford any support. Please excuse my reply - the opportunity seemed to present itself.

The Grant offered by the South African Government is appalling to say the least. The South African Government should be ashamed of the measly grant paid to Disabled Persons on a Monthly Basis, do we live in a Democracy? it is far below the necessary financial support required to survive in today’s world, the Grant being a measly R 1 350.00 an equivalent of $ 121.00 or £ 76.00 per month, a Grant in aid can be applied for by the totally Disabled, but this is only R 310.00, $ 26.58 or £ 17.20, disgusting. In America for example, as of March 2013, the average monthly benefit for a disabled $1,129, and spouses of disabled received supplemental benefits from Social Security—roughly $300 a month. It is appalling to hear our President spending +/- R 2 500 000.00 on security updates to his personal residence; this equates to +/- 154 years on a Disability Grant, without living expenses, far beyond the living expectations of any Disabled person, (2013 / 2014). It was announced publicly that Mr Julius Malema pays back R 30 000.00 a month, which gets deducted from his salary as a payback for on his dept., owed for whatever reasons, besides his other expenses. A year of Mr Malema’s payback payments would equate to 22 Years payments of a Disability Grant, without living expenses. The Presidents Salary for 2015 +/- R 2 700 000.00 per month, equates to 2000 Disability Grants payments, something to think about. Are the Constitutional Rights none existent for Disabled people of South Africa?

The above Grant of R 1 350.00 an equivalent of $ 121.00 is to be increased by R 60.00 an equivalent of +/- $ 5.00 a month from April 2015, wow. This Grant does not even cover the ‘Electricity, Water, Rates and Taxes Account’ never mind extra needs of the Disabled. Angry.
