Episodic Ataxia type 2?

we have tried a few medications but they didn't seem to make any difference :(

If she has a bad episode she has to take a day off school

The only way I found of making it go away is distraction ;) Like try and get her up and eating and take her mind off it . (but depends really how bad it is.

That's what I do when I feel tired. I go find something to keep my mind busy and then I feel fine again.

stress seems to be a major factor in triggering attacks with me but my daughter is always ill first thing in the morning so it can be quite different amongst people :(

Can you tell...do you get a particular feeling before an episode begins?

Well I just feel Like I need to lie down very quickly but guess its different for different people, It always happens to me when I'm not busy so I always try and keep active . ;) As I know I cant do anything about it I just try and get on with my life.

With this condition there are so many different variables how it affects people.

At work I sometimes have trouble getting a sentence out and people always assumed I was just bad at English lol

;)

Goto ataxia.org t,hey have just about every ataxia fact sheet needed. You can go to the bulliten board and meet others with the same issues. If you can, keep a diary of physical problems, food eaten, activities, ets. Take your daughters blood pressure and note any correlations between them, although none of these cause ea2, they can make the symptoms more difficult. Check out the " diet for ataxia" on this website, it was designed by ataxia specialists after a lot of observations. Has your daughter been tested for gluten intolerance? The safest thing to do, is to put her on The “caveman diet” for 30 days and see if she improves. Sometimes it can make a world of difference. It did for my child. (Relating ingredients or foods to symptoms.)

Great ideas. Thank you. Maybe I am over looking something, but where do I find the 'diet for ataxia' on this website? Do you mind explaining that more to me?

Hi RH,

Can I ask you - when you felt you had to lie down very quickly, do you recall having de ja vu just before?

This is something I experience. It used to happen frequently just after I got up in the morning.
