What's point of genetic testing?

My Medicare Plan ( I am s a retired municipal employee, and union member, and the Town still negotiates for me for my supplementary ins. and my prescription drug plan, and I assume what I pay for medicare benefits) .did not pay the cost of $600. for blood tests to find out what kind of ataxia I had. However, I talked to my supplementary insurance BC/BS for Seniors,, and they took care of it. I feel fortunate for that, but I have no intention of having more tests that cost thousands of dollars.

Silkybill,

I contacted Athena and for some reason their bid for me was $7,200. I wonder why, because the reason was for diagnosing not screening.

continuing testing is a personal thing and often economic varriable. It is to get an acceptable reason for youself;not for a cure indicator. If you are interested, contact Athena Diagnostics (Athenadiagnostics.com. 1-800 394-4493). They had a $1,000 rate for me. but I still think that medicare should pay after appeal. (The handle or reason is that it is a diagnostic test as opposed to a screening test.)

I was never charged. Idnk what was settled, but I did get a full report. I had indicated my acceptance of any charges, but noe came, and no notice that either medicare or the ins. had made any payment.
