My husband has ataxia, but doesn't think there's anything wrong

He maybe in denial. I think there is an Ataxia that is related to B12. Are the shots helping to reduce his symptoms?

I’ve never heard of your daughters condition if you are sure you don’t have the gene then it could be possible it’s come from your husband if its something that can only be acquired from faulty genes. often though these conditions require both parents to have the gene, even if they are both only carriers of it and don’t actually have it themselves.

Maybe both you and your husband could be tested, he maybe more willing if he thinks he’s doing it for his daughter and you are also getting tested?

To Phoebe who discussed sueing over acquiring ataxia after taking medication for acne: my ataxia was also a result of a rare combination of me having and under active thyroid from birth and medications I was put on for other thngs too.

I was told I didn’t have a case as it was so extremely rare they coudn’t possibly of predicted that was the cause. So I can’t get any compensation. The NHS did fund a communication aid and powered indoor chair for me though, so I’ve had about £7,000 off them in equipment!..I would just have to hope that if I neded anything more expensive in future they would fund that also, but with so many shortages of funding and the economy I’m not that hopeful!
