Searcher, my heart goes out to you. I too have ataxia issues due to Lyme, it is in my brain and spine due to many years of wrong diagnoses. I took antibiotics for 3 years and things have improved a lot but I'm not 100% back to normal. I may never be. Best of luck to you as you begin treatment!

Believe me, Lyme is bad but you WILL get better, god bless you,

Searcher, this is worth a read: http://www.healthboards.com/boards/lyme-disease/889197-llmd-use-caution.html

I suggest you join the lyme community, if you haven't yet.

Searcher, Lyme and some of the co-infections triggered several autoimmune diseases in me, as well as fibromyalgia. Lyme and Bartonella are both capable of altering your immune system, and they can attack the brain too, so YES, Lyme may be only part of the picture.

But getting a diagnosis is a VERY important first step. Now that you know that Lyme is part of the picture, it can be addressed. Some people see Lyme-triggered secondary conditions go into remission during or after treatment for Lyme. You will definitely get better!
