Dear Beryl-Park. I have a form of spinocerebellar ataxia. My ataxia though is caused by celiac disease. According to research, the celiac version of spinocerebellar ataxia has similar symptoms to other forms. One article actually recommended testing persons with spincerebellar ataxia for celiac disease. thanks of your post. Marcille

:slightly_smiling_face: You are correct Marcille, Gluten Ataxia can attack the body and cause challenging symptoms in the same way as other SCAs. There is a specific test to diagnose Gluten Ataxia, and keeping to a strict Gluten Free Diet (if the test is positive) has been known to alleviate symptoms, but any deviation from the diet is known to trigger symptoms.
