fatnastic post. thanks for sharing.
Hi Lorinn,
Yes, I agree, "Tuesdays With Morrie" is a wonderful read! It helps put the changes and challenges of ataxia in perspective! Reading about Morrie's struggles with a terminal illness made me look at life differently also. Not to be dramatic, but I lost my first husband to a terminal illness. Our children were 12 and 14 years old (they're now 28 and 30), and I remember preserving my husbands dignity when he no longer could. That experience taught me so much! Now I believe it was preparation for my ataxia and to help me deal with it better. It sounds as though you learned a great deal from your mom. Try not to be so hard on yourself! You are very special...Thank you for your story!
Hi Lorinne and Rose
I have just read Tuesdays With Morrie. It was very good and shows us the importance of Dignity.
My mother looked after my father with Parkinsons but forgot about his dignity .I have more understanding now.
I sympathize with you I struggle with the same thing, think of it as them showing you love instead of you loseing your dignity, that helps me deal with it
Well said Randy!....;o)
Thank you, Randy, I think you hit the nail right on the head! And if the caregiver is unloving... get another one!
