Is anyone else more emotional now? I used to cry maybe once a year. I wasn’t really a “crier”. No I am more weepy than I was. I don’t like it, but I can’t seem to change it.
That’s because your shrinking cerebellum— little brain—is also in control of emotions and feelings, in addition to balance. Dana Mauro has a podcast called ‘Did you know’, that I found on AtaxiaCanada group through Facebook…very short blurbs but lots of interesting information, and she just did one on that. You can find the podcasts other ways as well. Well worth it.
Thanks, Chatkat! I’ll check it out!
This is a link to the Fact Sheet provided by the National Ataxia Foundation (www.ataxia.org) and relates to Cognition and Emotion in Cerebellar Disorders. https://secureservercdn.net/166.62.112.199/y1x.318.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Cognition-and-emotion-in-cerebellar-disorders.pdf
Very good article…haven’t figured out how to add links. I ‘failed’ that ‘class’ when I joined and it tried to teach you!
I’m self taught so this may not be helpful
Google something you want to post. Then look to the right of the ‘google box’. There are 3 symbols. Click on the first one, a square with an arrow through it. This opens options, message- mail- add to notes- Facebook etc. Beneath the Facebook symbol you’ll see ‘copy’. Click on that. Then, go to the site/group you want to post to, and when you click to start and post, options appear, click on ‘paste’ and your chosen link should appear.
I hope this is clearer than mud. I use an iPad, so it may be different on a laptop. If anybody can describe this procedure in an easier format, please jump in
those are very good instructions, actually!! I am at the desk top and figured it out–after a few tries. Now will try on the ipad. And when I forget, I’ll know where to look for the instructions!!
When you’re making a post, you can do it directly there as well. Start to make a post, and on the top of the box you’re typing in, you’ll see a little paper clip. If you click on it, a little box opens up. You can copy the url of the site into there, and you can even add a word. For example, here is a link to the weather.
I didn’t know, but just tried it
Hi Chatkat, now that putting a link in your thread was explained, would you mind sending me the one that Dana Mauro talked about being emtional. I did a search of “did you know” and could not find that one. I have a huge problem now crying at stupid things! Even commercials!
I’ll give it a try…https://www.facebook.com/ataxiadidyouknow/videos/928577810868583/
This one also talks about emotional changes.https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/neurology_neurosurgery/centers_clinics/ataxia/conditions/ataxia_symptoms.html
I’m sure there’s another but I can’t find it at the moment…will do a better job of bookmarking it if I find it again!!

For those of us with enquiring minds, and able to interpret medical jargon.
Thanks Beryl_park! You are true champion!!!
