End of working days

I know that feeling - you need speed to maintain balance but... when you trip, you go down harder. I dont have that problem now as I cant move very fast .. I tend to toddle. lol we are just like toddlers. ;-)

Patsy

Dear Patsy,

I am like a bike with no brakes. I haven't fallen in about a year. Fell yesterday when I tripped on the computer mat. I just go boom. I don't have time to break my fall. I am slower today. I volunteeer at school and 2nd gaders just accept you as you are! Amy

What age are second graders - I envy you that work ;-) I wouldnt want to be very young again but 40's and 50's I enjoyed.

Patsy

Hope everything goes well during and after your son has been tested Amy. Just thought I would like to say that someone at our ataxia group told us at our last meeting that there are over 100 different types of ataxias!!! I knew there were many but I never thought there would be as much. Some ataxias are temporary but I think the majority are degenerative and permanent?

Is what I have stated above, right or wrong? I would be interested to hear in any feedback and opinions on this

Dear Iain,

I really think we learn more from fellow ataxians. They misdiagnosed my dad and gave him Parkinson meds. When he was sick in the end they stopped. He lost all his hair in a week and it grew back in a week after stopping the meds. I take Co-Q-10 for my charlie horses and it really works. I am so tired at night from simply living and exercising! Will let you know what my youngest son learns when they test him next week.Amy

Sounds right to me..

Dear Iain,

I read that there are over 30 spinocelebellar ataxias, but close to 100 different types. I have SCA type 2 I too am.surprised at how many types there are aand maybe this is not so rare. My son's doctor discovered SCA type 2.
I hope he does not have this as being dominant it will die out. Let you know. Amy

Sounds wonderful Amy - enjoy ...xx

I was working in a office, doing computer work, and filing. Well, they fired me, they told me "they let me go" I was treated terrible towards the end. I fell a couple of times at work also, so I don't think that helped things any better. Anyway some of the girls were soooooo mean to me, and they made fun of me. Now I am collecting disability. I try to forget. But it is still very painful and still in my mind like it was yesterday. My one friend says to "let it go, don't hold on to it!!!!" But I can't get it out of my mind. I got fired a year ago, and it is still clear in my mind. I think, how could they do that to me? It is there loss.

It was discrimination and it hurt. They did not fire me as much as give me an ultimatum I could not live with. How can children not bully when adults are modeling it for them. It hurt to the bone and your identity. Amy
