Hi Everyone,
I just need to vent, I tried this morning to return to my volunteer work after a very hard morning of the wobbles, and a lack of self confidence due to the fact that just recently have had to use a walker for support, so this was my first time back in a while.
When I finally got the courage to go, I got there only to find there was no vacant car spaces in the car cark. So, after driving around for 30 minutes looking for somewhere close to park I retreated and left to go back home.
Not a good morning.
Well then! I'd put ma feet up,turn some music on and imagine your holding on to a rope attached by a paper-clip to a 'hot-air' balloon floating over the 'Grand-Canyon'..Now! Do ya feel bedda?? :-)
Hi,
I really sympathise. An experience like this can really dent your confidence, particularly when you have just started to use a walker. But this is just one bad day. You are valued as a volunteer and you are still able to drive! Take your disability out of the scenario and this could have happened to anyone, say a young mother who had just returned to work after maternity leave. Next time, you will be fine and you will take courage from that.
x
Oh Heavens!! that sounds so depressing.. I really feel for you. I hope the 'vent' on here cleared your head and you were able to find something comforting to do instead.
I dont drive anymore as we cant afford two cars now so my husband drives me everywhere. This solves the parking issue [for me] ,as he drops me off and then finds somewhere to park,
I feel so much better not have that problem anymore and really dont miss driving.
Easy for me to say but really sympathise with those who dont have this kind of support.
what a horrible morning and how frustrating, especiallty as you had only just had the courage to use the walker for support and to go to work. Good decision to leave and go home, sometimes it's just not worth it. Take care and thankyou for your comments
Thanks Margaret’ for your support.

Indeed sounds like a hard day but those of us "in betweeners" live in this strange world-- not too disabled, not too normal. I am wondering, for example, why you dont have a handicapped parking sticker? Maybe you tried to get one and it was a hassle; maybe they are not offered in your town or city; maybe these special spots were taken. Since you are driving no one seems to think that you are disabled. A walker can indicate a sprained ankle.
But you were right to go home---I agree with the others. Dont see that as a failure. It could have happened to anyone. Crowded car parks (and the violence they can cause) are an international menace. My friend (a doctor, as it happens) had her car "keyed" cause she took a spot someone else wanted. This happened in cool, calm Toronto. I have seen many fisticuffs at car parks. Consider yourself lucky. It was crowded and you left. Very sensible.
Djeez Ozzy..where did yah find those fine words. RICH imagination, only correct answer. Keep going..you make us all laugh and yeah feeling bedda:):) Saw your Mick Jagger start-me-up too!

Hi January - I say focus on the courage part, and let the other stuff go.
I realize that you need to air your frustration, and I know plenty of us are in the same boat. You went with your gut, it wasn’t anything intentional, and you might feel like you lost the battle, but just keep doing your personal best, and you’ll win the fight.
Dear January, At least you went, eventhough you could not find a place to park! Give yourself a HUGE pat on the back and try again another day...,;o)
Thanks Rose for your support. I will try again next week and I will get there a little earlier this time. Hope I have better luck next week.
January
You had the courage to get out even if youu were met with frustration.Good for you for trying.
That's the spirit, January! Kudos to you..., ;o)
I will try again next week and hopefully beat the crowds to the car park.
