I thought I had brain fog, but it is more that my brain shuts off completely and I fall asleep in the afternoon. There is no fatigue. It’s unrelated to my sleep at night (usually 8-9 hours). I have ADHD as well as cerebellar Ataxia and it usually happens when I cannot engage in anything exciting, like research. It feels like my brain is slipping away and it’s impossible to stay awake. I am trying all sort of things to prevent it from happening. Does this sound familiar to anybody? Any tips?
Just handling something like Ataxia is a strain that causes our body to get tired. Try doing something that causes your brain to work [exercises] like reading or doing a crossword. There are sites on the internet that make the brain work. Maybe this will help. Let us know how you make out. Good luck.
So many things may cause this. Coming down with something? Fatigue for other reasons—ataxia or? Sleep Apnea—had this checked? Common in Ataxia. Aging? I usually just take a nap and not fight it. Mostly doesn’t happen every day but when it does I give in and don’t worry (which also creates stress).
Thank you, Chas521 and Marysees! I have no choice but to give in to it as well. I am engaged in brain-stimulating puzzles and research all day. I was just thinking that because it doesn’t happen every day and it doesn’t make sense when it does and doesn’t, there should be a way to influence it and make it not happen… like a food supplement or so…
Stimulate the problem - not that I’m aware of! Trial and error I guess.
AI recommends a coffee and movement (I have a treadmill) around 1PM. If that does not help, take the following supplements: L-tyrosine and CoQ-10 with NADH around 1PM. Does anyone take them?
