Thank you IssyâŚIâll look into this.
Get extra peace of mind knowing that your emergency alarm watch with fall detector can automatically make an emergency call when it detects a fall. It works as follows:
- Watch detects a hard impact
- Watch vibrates and plays an audio alert of âfall detectedâ
- Emergency call is made to our 24/7 monitoring team
The fall alarm uses a sensor to recognise the difference between âhardâ falls and other movements. Like many similar systems on the market, it cannot guarantee detection of all falls as it is dependent on the amount of impact it senses and how the watch actually moves.
Hi Chas
You can find info on website .
I am now living alone as my husband unfortunately is in a Residential Home due to Alzheimers. As I have Epilepsy as well as Ataxia I thought it wise to purchase this in case of falls or emergencies. If I was to fall or move my arm suddenly the watch would say âfalls alertâ When it does so and I havenât fallen I just press the button to cancel it. If the alert isnât cancelled it rings my phone then if necessary phones one of the 3 people I have listed in case of emergency . It also records blood pressure, steps and heart rate. If the button is given a long press it activates an SOS call to the call centre where the operators would alert one of my chosen contacts to assist me . Donât think this particular watch is available outside UK but there may be other similar ones.
It really is a great piece of kit.
Take care
Many thanks for the information. I wear something somewhat similar. It like a necklace. If I need help I just push the button and it connects me to a help who will call 911 here in the USA. It also has a GPS locator built-in in case I cannot speak. Not sure if itâs available overseas.
Alexa has something for the home. I think itâs called Call My Buddy or something like that.
Hi Chas
Many thanks for info on Call my Buddy.
The only drawback with my great watch is the rubbish mobile signal at home where connection is very patchy.
Adding Call my Buddy will hopefully put my daughterâs mind at rest
Take care
Sorry I should have added - it is called Ask my Buddy incase anyone else is interested. I only bought Alexa last week too!!
I have AlexaâŚbut only in one room, probably more rooms would need to be added.
Have you heard of thisâŚsomeone on Healthunlocked AtaxiaUK posted.
FYI, Alexa has 7 speakers in it that can hear most instructions but it depends upon the location. Walls and such can be a problem. Nevertheless, itâs a free app so why not set it up? I did. Between the Alexa app and the button around my neck I feel like I canât do much more.
Ask My Buddy info:
Buddy Assist is our feature that goes beyond Ask My Buddyâs main function. Buddy Assist enables access to a professional monitoring center.
Ask My Buddy enables you to use your voice to send an alert to your friends and family letting them know you need assistance. When an alert is sent using Ask My Buddy, the phone calls, text messages, and emails all come from our servers and are sent to your contactâs telephone or email immediately.
To use Ask My Buddy, simply speak to your device, either Alexa or Google, and say the command, like this. âAlexa, Ask My Buddy to Alert â. This would send an alert to your contact. If you entered a phone number in both the text and voice fields, then your contact would receive the alert by both methods.
The best way to practice is to say âAlexa, Ask My Buddy to Alert Powerballâ. Alexa will respond by speaking some random numbers, but the point of the process is to practice the command without using your allotment. This phrase uses the same phrasing as when alerting a specific contact or you can say Everyone, to send alerts to everyone! If you would like to practice with all of your contacts, the best way is to only set the email address on the Contacts page. Emails are not counted, so you can test as much as you want. Once ready, re-enter the phone numbers.
A note about how we count messages.
For free accounts, a combined total of 10 Voice and or text messages (SMS) may be sent in any 30 day period. If you have 3 contacts with both Text and Voice numbers and a message is sent to all contacts (Everybody or Everyone), then 6 messages are used. If you have 3 contacts but only have Voice numbers and you alert all of them then only 3 messages are used. Counting the messages this way allows our users to determine the best way to use their allotment.
To send Alerts, within voice range of Alexa, say one of the following:
Each contact will receive alerts by all methods provided for them, Email, Text message, and or a Voice phone number.
âAlexa, Ask My Buddy to send Helpâ
This will send an alert to all of your Contacts and tell them that you initiated an alert and they should take steps to check-up on you right away!
âAlexa, ask My Buddy to alert Fredâ
An alert will be sent to your contact Fred
âAlexa, ask My Buddy to alert Everyone (or everybody)â Alternate phrases are My Family, My Friends, and My Kids
This will send an alert to everyone in your Contact List. Letting them know that you initiated an alert and they should take steps to check-up on you right away!
Our Help at www.askmybuddy.net also covers most topics, and we do have many videos on our YouTube/AskMyBuddy channel.
At the bottom of the Settings page is a Guide for Contacts. This document includes the phone numbers that the alerts will come from, and just briefly talks about what the service does. You may also be interested to know about our new Personalized Quick Reference cards that can be printed out. The Quick Reference will have your login ID, a place to write a hint for your password, and it will add each Contactâs names with the proper command to say. We recommend hanging this somewhere that it may be seen frequently, like a refrigerator, to help remember what to say when needed!
Please let us know if you need additional help. We want to make sure you are able to use Ask My Buddy!
