Thanks for getting back to me. I thought it was too good to be true. Just imagine a patch that would take dizziness away! We can only dream. Hope you are ok. Best wishes.Anna
Sam,
It looks like this an old thread. However I wanted to post and say that I have muscle spasticity and severe pain which keep me up at night, with jerking legs and arm and all over pain. A little marijuana helps this a lot. In fact it is the only thing that has helped those symptoms.
I too exercise regularly and take Gabapentin for numbness and pain, during the daytime. I haven’t used marijuana in the daytime as it does affect my coordination (makes it even worse) and speech.
Anyway, I hope all is going okay with you. I think it’s important to note that many of us have different symptoms and marijuana may be helpful to some and not others.
Btw, I have spinocerebellar ataxia type 8. I am 46.
Good luck to you.
I just started medical marajuana. My doctor prescribed low dose THC and high dose CBD 2 1/2 ccs at bedtime. I did nothing for me so she upped the dose. Still did nothing for me. Now she prescribed more THC a 1 to 1 ratio of THC to BCD. Here’s hoping this works
I’ve used Marijuana for quite some time. I use it more to help me sleep and to cope with the fact that my Ataxia basically leaves me chained to my house. Now I’m not a doctor but I’ve been around Marijuana for most of my life. When people say they puke or get nauseous from it, it’s because they took too large of a dose at once. As far as how you think and feel while on it is different for everyone. It simply is not for everyone. The nice thing about it is that there is no physical addiction from it like there is with things like cigarettes. You’re also not going to have a crazy hangover like you get from alcohol. My recommendation is, again I am not a doctor, to try it at a very small dose initially and see if it is for you or not.
I’m not sure this got mentioned later in thread, but I found that medicinal marijuana with high CBD and low THC levels to be helpful in maintaining balance and controlling tremors. Of course, herb with a higher THC level (when you aren’t doing anything else than sitting and/or relaxing) helps combat the Depression this condition can cause (for me anyways)
