this is an interesting article on the benefits of turmeric for many different conditions and illnesses, how it could be beneficial in treating neurological diseases, they mention MS, Parkinsons and Alzheimers and includes a short video clip on how it can boost regeneration of brain stem cells.
Has anyone come across this or tried using turmeric in a medicinal way? I wonder if Ataxia symptoms could also be surpressed and brain function improved? Would be amazing if so!

Krissy, Mercola is very fast and loose with the information presented. Much of it has little or no scientific basis, I'm afraid. And, Mercola has a marketing motive as well -- he makes a great deal of money from marketing controversial supplements and medical devices through his website. The FDA has asked him to stop making misleading claims for numerous products. Here is an article on mercola: http://www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/February-2012/Dr-Joseph-Mercola-Visionary-or-Quack/
yes, agree but he does bring up interesting ideas. I know several people who use turmeric and swear by it to prevent colds etc so do believe that turmeric has some very interesting properties that have of course not been explored by traditional medicine. And it probably won't be explored as there's not enough money to be made by the big pharmas if we use natural products!
Thanks for flagging up that Mercola shouldn't be relied on and I don't want to suggest in any way that his article proves that turmeric can bring positive change. Just interested in learning more about this and other natural products our planet provides.
Turmeric or curcurmin has anti-inflammatory properties. A number of members across our communities feel that it is helpful in reducing inflammation-related symptoms. Some report GI symptoms from turmeric supplementation, however, like nausea or diarrhea. There are also a number of contraindications. There is promise for turmeric across many conditions. Many trials are under way, and I hope they bear fruit:
