Brain food

After reading about the work going on at Dundee university regarding the skins of red grapes and turmeric i now give Cassie red grapes, dark choc, and a few almonds every night as well as a curcumin tablet every morning. Now i dont know if this is any good but theres no harm in trying is there? Anyone else take anything they think may be of benefit?

Hi Punk - I took Resveretrol supplements for awhile - what red grapes have - but didn’t really notice a difference.

Thanks Butterfly i dont supose it will make a difference but i have to try and slow it down. Hope your keeping strong

I’m a big fan of dark chocolate - really, any kind of chocolate.

Can you tell me more about the turmeric connection?

CoQ10 supplement. I also eat 1 tablespoon of ground flax meal and 8-10 walnut halves every day. Ginseng too. Are brains are mostly fat, so healthy fats are essential.

Recently I started taking 1000 mcg of B12 liquid via a dropper under my tongue every day. Lots of energy!!

good on you Julie, most helpfull

I just read the article. Page 7 covers CoQ10. Interesting.

Hello there Punk

I discovered the joy of turmeric independently a few years ago. It is brilliant.

I had just visited the London Ataxia Centre for my annual check-up. I had bad night cramp in my legs. They tried me on Baclofen, but it did not agree with me, so I tried to find a herbal alternative. After much research, I discovered organic turmeric. I take 1 x 400mg Organic Turmeric in the morning an 1 at night. I also take Opti 3, a vegetarian Omega-3 (very similar to fish oil).

You need to be careful that drugs do not interact with herbal things. I found this good site to check stuff on

Also this is old but has a useful bit on anti-oxidant levels (if you scroll down)

Hope my mad ramblings help someone : )

Thanks Lit, Cassie not on medication so herbal supliments should be ok. Love your profile pic,are you an artist?

Oh good!

Thank you, I have a very clever son who takes excellent photos that lie wonderfully and hides pounds! It is also a couple of years old now, I just realised! I TRY to be an artist, to keep busy. I cannot do any 2D, but I love ceramics. I wish I could sculpt too but I have to use moulds. I have some bits on my website if you fancy a look www.litsmith.com
