All terrain walker/wheelchair

I love country walks. I am having to rely on a rollator or using a wheelchair as a walker to get about. I really miss my walks around the fields but can manage our gravel drive using my wheelchair for balance. The bigger wheels help. When I am less able I discovered this great wheelchair

I do want to stay on my feet as long as possible though, and I am looking for either a bigger wheeled walker/rollator or a wheelchair that I can walk with that will go in fields. I have been emailing Mountain Trike (who make the above wheelchair) and they suggested these shows. I had no idea that they existed, so I thought I would pass the information on.
At the end of this week in Loughborough www.asaal.org.uk
End of June in Telford http://www.mobilityroadshow.co.uk (I hope to go!)
Hope it helps someone : )

I jog and use a modified baby jogger

just add a counter weight, I use 40lbs. It wont keep you from falling but helps with balance

Hi Litty,

The array of aids available is amazing, the exhibition certainly looks like a worthwhile visit.

Up till now I haven't considered the cost of a wheelchair, let alone what type. I have to say

when I saw how much the Mountain Trike is estimated to cost, it caused a sharp intake of

breath! But, worth every penny!

I had no idea and would spend a fortune, I bet!

I have a 'normal' wheelchair for days out. It was a bit expensive but I love it. It is made by Karma

I have made it much prettier with stickers from Hippy Motors.

Oh, I would have to save big time and be very nice to my other half to get the Mountain Trike! It would be such fun though : )

Oh that looks really good : )

Check out the Topro Olympus walker. It's designed primarily for outdoor use, has quite a large frame and has big wheels at the front. My wife has a standard Topro walker and finds it really good. We've been thinking of upgrading to the Olympus for our occasional walks in the park. Good luck

Hi Lit

I used my rollator for 2 years but when I got stuck in the mud and got rescued by an old lady I called it a day.

I thought my exploring days were over and I was sad. Then last year I got my road scooter and the highlight of last year was going miles and miles up and down hill and dale.I went much further than I could walk and I saw all the seasons changing.

You can do all the things you used to out walking but you can go that much further and see things. You just have to modify some things.I have kept up this hobby anyway.

Now I have to look at wheelchairs and am undecided.Manual or electric??
