Ataxia Uk Conference

Did anyone else go from this site?. Three of us went from the Dorset group and had a lovely day. It was my first time and I thought it was very good.We were amply supplied with refreshment s throughout the day.It was great to see others like me lurching around and to hear our speech. There were all different types of Ataxians and my impression of the day was very positive. I found it very helpful and nice to know that people without this condition do so much for us.I'm sure i recognised some of your names but I wish I could have met up with all of you who went What did you think of the day?Did you find any part of it particularly useful?

good to hear about your experience there

Hi Marie, I was also at the conference at the weekend with my son Adam who has FA, it was the first time we have ever attended and we also found it really interesting and informative and it was so nice to meet everyone. We will definitely try to go again next year, be nice to say hello to you in person.

Me too - thoroughly enjoyed it although also wished I could have met more online friends - I have met some but it was very difficult finding them amongst so many people.

It's quite amazing all the work that goes into the conference and the trouble they go to, to collect feedback is to be commended.

I am a little disappointed that I didnt get the chance to plug Living With Ataxia at Sue Millman's breakout session. Alan Thomas did speak up but there was no opportunity to support his comment.

Sue was proposing adopting another forum site and Alan quite rightly suggested that this forum would be the ideal one to adopt.

Maybe we could suggest a breakout session next year for those who like to meet online for support and friendship or.. maybe special tables at dinner time for online people??

Hi Patsy

The Conference was good but I might suggest that they do bigger print on the name tags as by thetime I got my reading glasses on the person had wandered off.I think I saw you but it would have been embarrassing if I had got the wrong person. Were you the one who mentioned the WIi? I think it would be good to have a break out session where we could meet online friends,
I went for the day this year but hope to go with my husband to Stansted next year for the Conference.I would like him to see others like me.

Good point Marie - yes I did mention the Wii - sorry I didnt recognised you.

I agree it is excellent opportunity for spouses, partners, siblings, parents etc to see others in similar circumstances.
