Most of us with ‪#‎nystagmus‬ know that wobbly eyes don't do us any favours in job interviews. But proving that it works against us is not easy. So, it was both good and bad to see our fears confirmed in one of the comments left on the Mail on Sunday website last weekend: "A few years later, my employer admitted that I failed my first interview because it didn't appear that I was maintaining eye contact and felt guilty when I told him! I got another job with that company and am still with them 22 years later." Good because this anecdote confirms our advice that in most job interviews it's probably best to take the initiative and mention nystagmus yourself. Bad of course because it confirms a potentially hidden prejudice against anyone with nystagmus.
