Reduce risk of falling

:slightly_smiling_face:It’s always a good idea to try and reduce the chances of a fall. Non slip footwear and a walking aid can be paramount.

Walking aids are great. I’ve used a trolley with trays on for years - can’t carry much when using 2 sticks! Now my husband requires a walker too traffic jams are common in our smallish bungalow !!

Thanks Chas,
Some good information there.
My wife is getting older and a little less stable. We’re presently going through the process of getting assessments and equipment sorted. She’s just got a walker and yesterday we had ramps installed. We have a sliding glass door and due to the framing, a specific mould needs to be cut and fitted for the ramp. She doesn’t need the walker all of the time, but when she does, it’s there.

We’ve ordered a swivel/turntable for the car seat and a handle that locks into the door frame, for her to get in and out of the vehicle a bit easier. We’ll need other things I’m sure, but we’ve made a start. I’m trying to get all of this stuff together before she needs it. She was a bit miffed at getting the walking frame, she sees at as a sign she’s ‘getting old’ but I told her if it makes getting around a bit easier, then use it. (I can still remind her she’s old if she needs  SLAP)

When you do need aids its for your own safety and independencce. I use a mobility scooter locally. I’m in charge of where I can go - and at what speed! !! Well up to 4 mph and I’m a good driver.
I always have a supply of dog biscuits in my basket and have got to know many dogs and their companions in the village. Its Horses for Courses.
Take care :hibiscus:
