Spider feeling

hi everyone, I experience a feeling on the backs of my hands and feet as if there is a tiny spider walking on them. It tickles and itches and I have to scratch it to stop it but then it happens all over again and is driving me crazy! Is this neuropathy perhaps. Does anyone else get the same feeling.

I think you may be experiencing something called muscle fasciculation. I was told some years ago before in I got my diagnosis, that I had benign fasciculation and not to worry, boy was he wrong!

Hello there Gail

Yes..I also am scratching my hands and feet every once in a while. It only happens when I go to bed at night. And mostly it's only my right hand and right foot asking attention. BUT..not to the point that it's driving me crazy like in your case. When in bed for approximately 15 minutes I do get the feeling that the blood in my feet has started boiling. Where I used to put on bedsocks because of cold feet, I now do without:)

Hi Gail,
I don’t know if what I experience is the same thing, but I often get a strange feeling in my legs, it’s like my nerve ends are crawling in my legs all the way up to my buttock.
My specialist is treating me for Neuropathy Pain , I guess it’s like Nerve Pain.
I’m on Endep which seems to help.
Don’t know if this is much help.
Good luck.

I always thought this strange feeling was something I only experienced. I too have that feeling.

I sometimes get what I caii the heebiè jèebies, this is a crawly feeling in back of my hands & legs. So far no itching. Legs do jump some. This happens when I am just a little cool or after going to bed. Drinking tonic water seems to help. Keeping warm (eveñ îf it is not cold) also helps. Getting up & moving does, too. My mother did not have ataxia, but I think she had a nerve disorder hee whole life. She used to complain of having the fèeling of bugs crawling under the skin of her legs,ESP. When. she sat for long periods. When she was 80ish she lost all fèeling in her legs. I think mine is related to neuropy.

Hi All

Yes thought is was just me. Glad to know this is one thing that I am not mad (I know I am mad ) and yes Elle mine i bad at bed time too and yes it can feel like blood boiling. its horrible but less so now i know im not alone feeling this.

Hello Group,

I also have a "spider" feeling, but only on my left calf. No matter how many times it happens, I swipe at my leg to remove something that isn't there. As a stroke survivor (at 49), my left side was affected with similar feelings. At least the 2 years after my stroke, my left leg felt like water was running down it and/or spider web was being spun on it. My Neurologist says the stroke and my Ataxia are not related. Fatigue is a big issue with me as well.

Being able to talk Ataxia patients, which no one else seems to know about, has given me so much comfort and confidence. I wish I had thought to look for a support group earlier.

Stay Strong!

Wow! So once again I find other people with similar problems that I thought were unique. I also get a "spidery" feeling. I don't get it on hands or legs though. Mine is a creepy thing that seems to tingle my HAIR, not the head itself. It usually crosses across the back between the ears, I am bald on top and hair is kept short across sides and rear, It's not bad: just creepy and I rub to get rid of the bugs on an irregular basis.....Silky
